The Passing Game

The story of the greatest coach you've never heard of.

The Passing Game is an independent documentary feature that is being written, directed, filmed, edited and produced by former Arritt player, Phil Wall (FUMA '03, Williams College '07).  Wall started following Arritt's story in 2007 and captured the last years of Arritt's career as a teacher and coach.  The production of the film is not possible without the financial support of individuals and foundations who are interested in making this story available to others.

Based on work-in-progress, the film has been selected as a Southern Documentary Fund project.  The Southern Documentary Fund is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) arts organization that cultivates documentaries made in or about the American South. Inspired by the core belief that documentaries have the power to change lives, SDF serves as a leading advocate for powerful Southern storytelling, providing filmmakers with professional support, fiscal sponsorship, and creative community.  The relationship with the SDF allows tax deductible donations towards the completion of The Passing Game.  Funds from the SDF have allowed for the filming of Arritt's final season and the completion of a rough edit that was screened as part of Duke University's Fresh Docs series at the Full Frame Theater in Durham, NC.
